Got the travel bug, but don’t know where to go? Got things to scratch off of your bucket list before you inevitably check out? For that insatiable wanderlust in you, we have compiled the top ten places you just have to see before it’s all said and done.

10. Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is not only beautiful, but was built for Shah Jahan for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal – following her death in childbirth.

This monument of love rests in Agra, India and should be at top of your list to see before you meet your maker.

9. Great Wall Of China

The entire wall measures over 13,000 miles and going up this thing is a great feat. It’s so vast that even Justin Bieber had to be carried upward by his bodyguards.

Varying reports suggest that it could take a reasonably fit person an average of two to four months to walk the entire length of the Great Wall. We don’t recommend doing this, though.

8. Statue Of Liberty

This 305 foot high beacon of freedom sits atop a pedestal on Liberty Island. The statue was designed as a gift from France and was constructed in pieces and shipped on over to the States. The gigantic statue has been closed for renovations off and on for years, but onlookers are unable to access the balcony near the torch – for safety reasons.

This is a monument to peace that you’ll definitely want to see before you die. It’s beautiful and the message is clear: America welcomes you.

7. Grand Canyon

Hiking this gigantic chasm should be on your list, especially if you are a fitness enthusiast. If you have a love of hiking and have nothing but time and a camera, hike from rim to rim of the Grand Canyon. You won’t be sorry.

6. Aurora Borealis

Go to Alaska or anywhere upward from 60 degrees latitude to see the famed Northern Lights. The lights shine in the sky and it looks absolutely surreal. If you’re closer to the southern hemisphere, feel free to gaze upon the Aurora Australis. Either way, the mixes of color cannot be duplicated.

5. Great Pyramid Of Giza

My mother always told me that she wanted to visit the Great Pyramid of Giza and now I know why. The Pyramid offers Egyptian enthusiasts lovely photography and the trip of a lifetime.

The Great Pyramid was build as a tomb for the Pharaoh Khurfu in 2560 BC. If you’re in the area, see the Pyramids and send me a picture.

4. The Colosseum

What was once a great amphitheater built for an emperor, the Colosseum is now mainly a tourist attraction in Rome. It’s a piece of history and was once used for gladiators and acts of cruelty. Still, even two thousand years after it was built, the Colosseum is still the world’s largest amphitheater.

3. The Eiffel Tower

Head on over to Paris, France and check the Eiffel Tower off of your bucket list. There is a good reason why the Eiffel Tower is the world’s most visited paid monument. Alexandre Gustave Eiffel’s company designed and built the structure, much his critics disdain. I guess he showed them!

The structure is so popular that it has inspired over 40 replicas.

2. The Louvre

The Louvre also sits in Paris, France and houses such works as the Mona Lisa, Michelangelo’s The Slaves and self portraits of Rembrandt. The only way to truly see all of the fantastical works contained in the lovely museum is to continue to return to the Louvre.

In 1793, the museum was ordered to be opened to the public and has over 300,000 artifacts on display. If you have the time, this is a must-see.

1. Stonehenge

Stonehenge continues to baffle scholars and lay people alike. Is it an old sun dial — or is it something completely different? The world may never know, but one thing is for sure – it’s an amazing structure and definitely worth checking out.

What would you add to this list?
